More Key West: Paseo’s corn on the cob with aioli, parmesan, cilantro, and lime; a dock on the water; what Wikipedia says is actually the southernmost incorporated point in the U.S.; and Paseo’s “Caribbean Roast” sandwich: slow roasted pork, grilled onions, jalapeño, aioli, and lettuce on a baguette. Yummy day!

This past weekend, I attempted a pineapple upside down cake for my birthday, but despite it being pretty damn delicious (my friend Marika literally cried!), it turned into a bit of a cake wreck because I had never made one in a cast iron pan.

So, armed with a bunch of extra pineapple and a little bit of extra time, I tried again. It looks much better this go ‘round, and I can’t wait for it to cool so I can chow down!

Things I have eaten/drunk of late:

1. Brunch last weekend at the highly lauded Parish Hall. My brunch (duck confit hash, poached eggs) was just so so, but my friend’s patty melt killed it!

2. Baby birthday cake donut at Northern Spy Food Co. Nice and crispy on the outside, and warm and pillowy on the inside.

3. Today, I had a drink at De Luxe Coffee called “The Mexicutioner.” Questionable name choice, but 2 shots of espresso, Mexican chocolate, cardamom and soymilk just *can’t* be wrong.

A beautiful bowl of Five Spice Stewed Beef Noodles (braised beef, beef tendon w/ rice noodles, chinese broccoli, bean sprouts, celery, scallions in five spices cinnamon brown broth and crispy pork skin)from Qi Thai Grill, a unique Thai venture by Sripraphai and Pichet Ong that recently opened in Williamsburg. Not pictured: sriracha barbecue wings (great) and a “Thai red bull sorbet” (too sweet for my liking). The prices are reasonable and the food is inventive! I only wish I had gotten to try more and will definitely be going back soon.

Last week, I ate at Cafe Ghia, a place that was written up for its burgers, but instead I had some poached eggs over corn griddle cakes with a Huancaina (yellow pepper and feta) sauce and their excellent belgian waffles with butterscotch sauce, sweet ricotta, and green apples. #brunchwin
